Kia Syros SUV at Rs 15 lakh is set to challenge the XUV 3XO and Creta.

In recent days, Kia has generated significant excitement among automotive enthusiasts regarding the imminent launch of the Kia Syros. This sub-4 metre SUV is set to occupy a space between the Sonet and Seltos models. While some features of the SUV have already been disclosed, additional intriguing details have emerged ahead of its launch scheduled for December 19th.

It is anticipated that the Syros will be a feature-rich SUV. The teaser has confirmed that it will include advanced features such as Level-2 ADAS, a panoramic sunroof, and various terrain modes. However, these features are expected to be available primarily in the higher-end variants of the Syros. Recent reports suggest that Kia will also provide the Syros with 17-inch alloy wheels. Furthermore, Kia has confirmed several features that may be included in the mid-range and base variants.

Regarding the base variant, it is expected to come equipped with 15-inch wheels, a comprehensive array of features, and a standard touchscreen infotainment system. The mid variant is likely to feature 16-inch alloy wheels, a sunroof, and other essential safety attributes.

Under the hood, the Kia Syros is projected to offer two engine options derived from the Sonet: a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine producing 110 bhp and 178 Nm of torque, and a 1.5-litre diesel engine generating 115 bhp and 250 Nm of torque. Transmission options for these engines are anticipated to include 6-speed manual, 6-speed automatic, and 7-speed dual-clutch gearboxes. However, there are speculations that Kia may not include the 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine due to its perceived lack of power, which would not align with the vehicle's premium pricing.

The Kia Syros will compete with other sub-4 metre SUVs, including the Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, and Mahindra XUV 3OO, among others. Its spacious interior, premium design, and unique feature set will position it against competitors such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, MG Hector, and similar SUVs. We welcome your thoughts on the forthcoming Kia Syros.
